What Is Paradiso Dark Granite?

Deep red-brown, densely grained with black.

Paradiso Dark is an Indian granite in a deep red-brown, packed with dark brown and black mineral grain and lit here and there by pale gray feldspar. On some slabs faint lighter threads run through the ground without ever gathering into veins.

Step back and it reads as a warm dark counter with no pattern worth naming. Step in and the grain breaks apart into hundreds of separate crystals, a depth nothing manufactured comes close to.

Nothing about the mottle has a direction. That makes it one of the easier natural stones to fabricate, since a slab can be laid whichever way the room wants, and it leaves us more freedom when a seam has to be matched.

The slab is ₱4,000 per square meter in Cagayan de Oro, and unlike engineered quartz it takes a pan straight off the burner and will not scorch.

How Do You Clean Paradiso Dark Granite?

Three habits, and a sealed granite looks after itself.

Blot Spills and Drips Promptly

Every natural stone carries some porosity, and the two liquids to move on quickly are cooking oil and red wine. Sealed, the counter only asks for a wipe; leaving either to stand overnight is the mistake.

Use Only Granite Cleaner

Acidic bathroom sprays and bleach take the sealer with them and pull the next application forward. A pH-neutral stone cleaner shifts grease and leaves the seal beneath untouched.

Never Scour It

Abrasive powder, steel wool and scouring pads put permanent scuffs into a polish. Use a plastic scraper on anything dried on and the surface comes through unmarked.

How Do You Care for Paradiso Dark Granite?

One seal, the occasional check, and one thing never to do.

Seal It on Installation

Sealing happens once the counter is in and the dust has dropped. We handle it as part of installation, and it is the one step that sets how the stone behaves for the next few years.

Reseal as Needed

Set a few drops of water on an inconspicuous stretch of counter and give them fifteen minutes. Run the check once or twice a year, and whenever the stone looks darker where liquid has been standing. Darkening means it is time, and resealing is wipe-on, wipe-off work that takes an evening.

Never Sit or Stand on It

Hard is not the same as flexible, and an unsupported overhang can crack under body weight. Fetch a step stool rather than climbing onto the counter.

Is Paradiso Dark Granite Good for Kitchen Countertops?

Yes, and it handles heat in a way quartz cannot.

Yes. Acid finds nothing to etch in a silicate stone. Calamansi, vinegar and wine leave the polish untouched where they would take the shine off marble within seconds.

Heat is where it moves clearly ahead of engineered quartz. No resin binder means no scorching, so a pan can come off the burner straight onto the surface. A trivet is still worth using, because any stone can crack if the temperature change is sudden and extreme, though one careless moment will not ruin a CDO counter.

That dense red-brown grain is quietly practical as well. Crumbs, water marks and the evidence of cooking all break up against it, which makes for a forgiving surface in a kitchen used properly every day.

Sealing is the one real obligation, and it is covered below. Skip it and oil will darken the stone where it sits; stay on top of it and Paradiso Dark will outlast the kitchen built around it.

Does Paradiso Dark Granite Need Sealing?

Yes. Do not inherit the answer from another granite.

Yes. Porosity here is enough for oil and wine to work into the stone and leave a dark patch behind. Sealed, it turns both away and behaves like any other easy surface.

Saying so plainly matters, because sealing is a property of the individual stone and colour predicts nothing. Absolute Black, Black Galaxy and Tan Brown are all dense enough to go without a sealer. This one is not, dark though it is.

What that means day to day is one application at installation and a water test once or twice a year afterwards, an interval to treat as a guide rather than a date. That is the whole commitment, and it is what a natural stone which takes a hot pan without flinching asks in return.

Paradiso Dark vs Our Other Warm Granites in Cagayan de Oro

Four brown and red stones, and they behave differently.

Paradiso Dark is the deep red-brown

Dense dark grain with red warmth running through it, at ₱4,000 per sqm. Non-directional and therefore simple to fabricate, and it does need sealing.

Paradiso Light shares the name and nothing else

Paradiso Light is not a paler version of this stone. Cream and gray with strong flowing banding, its pattern is directional, so the run has to be agreed before fabrication. Treat them as two different stones, and note that at ₱3,000 per sqm in CDO it is the cheaper of the pair.

Tan Brown needs no sealing at all

Tan Brown runs darker and cooler, with black and burgundy grain, and it is dense enough to skip the sealer completely. At ₱3,500 per sqm that makes it the lower-maintenance choice in this colour family.

Baltic Brown is the boldest grain

Baltic Brown out of Finland carries large rounded brown clusters instead of a fine mottle. Far more visible pattern, ₱3,300 per sqm in CDO, and sealing applies just as it does here.

What Colours Go With Paradiso Dark Granite?

A warm dark counter that wants warm company.

Red is the thing to plan a kitchen around here. This is no neutral brown, and a scheme that ignores the warmth will look as though the counter turned up from somebody else’s project.

Timber is the natural partner. Oak, teak and narra all share the undertone, which is why the stone settles so easily into a traditional Kagay-anon kitchen.

Cream and warm white cabinetry lift it without picking a fight. Deep colours work as well, so long as they stay warm: burgundy and olive sit comfortably where navy tends to clash with the red.

Cool grays are the trap. Gray doors against a red-brown counter usually read as a mistake rather than a contrast, and where the room is gray, Tan Brown is the cooler stone in the same family. On hardware, brass and antique bronze belong here, where chrome reads cold.

Does Paradiso Dark granite need sealing?

Yes. Oil and red wine can penetrate and leave a dark patch, which is porosity enough to matter.

Seal on installation, then test once or twice a year with a few drops of water on an inconspicuous spot, and reseal only once the stone underneath your counter has darkened.

Is Paradiso Light just a lighter version of this?

No, and this catches people out. Paradiso Light is cream and gray with strong flowing banding, where Paradiso Dark is a red-brown mottle with no direction at all.

A trade name is all the two of them share. Choose between them on the slab in front of you at our CDO yard, never on the name.

Can you put a hot pan on Paradiso Dark granite?

Yes. Nothing here is bound with resin, so a pan straight off the burner will not burn or discolour the surface.

Thermal shock on a cold slab is what trivets still guard against, but this remains the material’s real advantage over engineered quartz.

Does Paradiso Dark granite stain?

Unsealed, yes. Cooking oil does most of it, and the darker patch left behind can take weeks to draw out with a poultice.

Sealed and looked after, it resists staining and behaves like any other easy surface.

Does it etch like marble?

No. Silicate rather than calcium carbonate, so there is nothing for acid to eat into.

Calamansi, vinegar and wine all leave the polish as they found it, where a marble would go dull almost at once.

Does the pattern need aligning across a seam?

No. An even mottle with no direction means slabs can go down whichever way suits the room.

Paradiso Light is the opposite case and does need its run agreed before fabrication, which is worth remembering when both are on the shortlist.

Can Paradiso Dark granite be used outdoors?

Yes. Granite holds its colour in full sun where engineered quartz does not, so lanai counters, outdoor kitchens and poolside surfaces all work.

Keep the sealing up, because outdoor stone works harder than anything indoors.
