Why Choose Moonstone

Stain-Resistant Made on a production line instead of cut from a quarry, so sealing never applies and nothing etches it.
Hides the Daily Mess A fine scatter of flecks breaks up crumbs and water marks, so a white counter reads tidy between wipes.
No Seam Matching Needed Grain reads the same in every direction, so slabs can be turned freely and a joint needs no pattern carried across it.
Resists Chips and Scratches Wine, oil and coffee all meet resistance, and the surface stands up to the daily traffic of knives and pans.

What Is Moonstone Quartz?

An even scatter of flecks across bright white.

Moonstone is an engineered quartz in a bright white, finely and evenly grained with pale gray and soft translucent flecks. Nothing needs positioning as the slab is cut: the grain repeats at one scale edge to edge, with no vein to place.

The result reads closer to fine terrazzo than to marble. Across a room it registers as a clean white counter; only at arm’s length does the granular sparkle show.

Pricing at our Cagayan de Oro yard puts it at ₱5,700 per square meter, low in the quartz range: ₱200 above Nimbus, ₱200 under Cloudstone, and well clear of the veined designs at ₱8,000. Flecking is cheaper to reproduce than veining, which accounts for most of the gap.

It is manufactured rather than quarried: about 93% crushed natural stone held together by roughly 7% resin. That build is what leaves it stain-resistant, keeps acids from etching it, and takes sealing out of the picture.

How Do You Clean Moonstone Quartz?

Three habits, and the sparkle stays where it belongs.

1

Clean as You Go

Turmeric, coffee and cooking oil sit up on the surface instead of soaking in, so a soft cloth clears almost every spill. The flecking disguises a fair amount between wipes, part of why this design suits a working kitchen.

2

Use Only Quartz Cleaner

Dish soap leaves a film that dulls the polish over months, and a dull surface is what kills the sparkle in a grained slab. A pH-balanced quartz cleaner lifts residue off without attacking the resin.

3

Never Scour It

Scouring pads, steel wool and abrasive powders scuff a polish permanently. Reach for a plastic scraper when something has dried on and the surface comes through unmarked.

We keep specially-formulated stone care products on the shelf at our Cagayan de Oro yard, so nobody has to guess in a supermarket aisle.

How Do You Care for Moonstone Quartz?

Sealing is off the table, which leaves three rules.

1

Always Use Trivets

Resin is the heat-sensitive part of the slab, so a pan taken straight off a burner can scorch or discolor it beyond repair. More quartz counters are ruined this way than any other, and no workmanship warranty covers it.

2

Keep It Out of Direct Sun

Long UV exposure yellows engineered quartz and there is no reversing it. Blinds are worth fitting where afternoon light lands on a counter, and quartz belongs indoors.

3

Skip Harsh Chemicals

High-pH products, bleach and oven cleaner break the resin down over time. Wax is out too, since it accumulates and yellows against a white ground.

Is Moonstone Quartz Good for Kitchen Countertops?

The most forgiving white on our shelves.

Yes. Etching and staining both meet resistance in engineered quartz, so vinegar, lemon juice, wine and red sauce lift away instead of marking it. Spills stay on the surface rather than travelling into it.

Hardness is on your side as well. Quartz measures about 7 on the Mohs scale where marble measures 3, so it shrugs off the scratching that leaves a soft natural stone looking tired after a few years of cooking.

Where this design earns its keep is the grain. Crumbs, water marks and cooking evidence read far less against a finely flecked surface than against flat white, so the counter looks tidy longer between wipes. Cook daily in a Cagayan de Oro kitchen and want white, and this is the practical answer.

Heat is the real ceiling. Set a pan down straight from the burner and the resin scorches, which no polishing undoes. Trivets are not optional on any quartz.

Does Moonstone Quartz Need Sealing?

Nothing to seal — the slab is manufactured, not quarried.

No. A sealer works by filling the pore structure inside quarried stone so liquid cannot travel through it. On engineered quartz it achieves nothing, and some formulations attack the resin.

The contrast with a natural grained stone is worth drawing. A light granite carrying this sort of speckle, such as Salt and Pepper at ₱1,800, does want sealing, and wants it again whenever the water test says so: a few drops on an inconspicuous spot, fifteen minutes, wipe, and a darkened patch means it is due. Moonstone offers a similar visual texture with none of that upkeep.

Anyone selling you sealer for a quartz counter has either been misinformed or is moving stock you do not need. Cleaning is the entire maintenance routine.

Moonstone vs Our Other Plain Quartz

Grained or smooth, light or dark, across three CDO price steps.

Moonstone is the flecked white, in the middle

Gray and translucent flecks scattered evenly over bright white at ₱5,700 per sqm. One step above Nimbus, one step below Cloudstone, and the pick when a white kitchen has to cope with daily cooking.

Nimbus is the same texture in charcoal, and cheaper

Nimbus carries that identical fine speckle on a deep charcoal gray at ₱5,500 per sqm, ₱200 under this one. Same forgiving surface, opposite end of the tonal scale, and the obvious partner for pale cabinetry.

Cloudstone is white without the flecking, and dearer

Cloudstone is a near-plain white broken only by faint wisps, at ₱5,900 per sqm. Quieter and cleaner to look at, though crumbs and water marks turn up on it sooner than they do here.

Aetherstorm if you want movement

Aetherstorm runs soft gray veining over warm white at ₱8,000 per sqm. That is the choice when a counter should have direction and flow rather than one even texture.

What Colors Go With Moonstone Quartz?

A white with texture rather than a white with a mood.

Neutral gray on white gives the slab no strong undertone, so it will not argue with a cabinetry color the way a warm or cool white can.

Gray cabinetry is the most natural fit, since the flecks pick that color up and tie the two together. Anything from pale dove through to mid charcoal works without having to be matched exactly.

Timber suits it too, though lighter species read better. Ash and oak sit comfortably against the texture, while very dark walnut can make the grain look busy instead of fine.

Hardware is unrestricted. Brushed nickel and chrome echo the gray flecks most directly, matte black draws a sharper contemporary line, and brass works where the room already leans warm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Moonstone real stone?

No, not the way a quarried slab is. This is engineered quartz, roughly 93% crushed natural stone bound with about 7% resin. Quartz itself is a natural mineral, but the slab comes off a production line rather than out of the ground, so nothing etches it and sealing never applies.

Is Moonstone quartz related to the moonstone gemstone?

No. The name points at the look, not the material. Gemstone moonstone is a feldspar with a floating blue sheen, while this is a flecked white engineered quartz. None of that gemstone goes into the slab.

Does the flecking hide dirt better than a plain white?

Yes, noticeably. Water marks, crumbs and cooking residue break up against a finely grained surface instead of sitting against flat white. Spills stay on top either way, but this design looks tidy for longer between wipes than a near-plain slab does.

Can you put a hot pan on Moonstone quartz?

No. Direct heat scorches the resin holding the slab together and the mark will not polish out. Use trivets for anything coming off a burner or out of an oven. No workmanship warranty covers heat damage.

Does Moonstone quartz stain?

It resists staining, though nothing is immune. Spills stay up on the surface rather than soaking in. Coffee, turmeric and red wine sit on top and wipe away easily.

Does the pattern need aligning across a seam?

No, and that is a practical advantage. The grain is uniform and carries no direction, so a slab can go down whichever way suits the room and a joint needs nothing matched across it. Veined and banded designs both demand that planning.

Can Moonstone quartz be used outdoors?

No. Sustained UV yellows engineered quartz permanently, and on a white slab that shift is plain to see. For a lanai or an outdoor counter, granite is the material that holds its color in the sun.

Where can you buy Moonstone quartz in Cagayan de Oro?

Stone Depot stocks Moonstone quartz at our Cagayan de Oro yard. It is our only branch in Northern Mindanao, so every slab is quoted and dispatched from here.

Grained designs repay a visit, since the flecks barely register in a photograph and only really show at arm’s length. The branch is open Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and you are welcome to drop in or get in touch.
